Job Title: Commercial Loan Officer

We are currently seeking a motivated, community- focused and detail-oriented Commercial Loan Officer to join our team in Ennis, Montana. This position is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial loans, providing financial solutions to local businesses, and supporting the economic growth of the community. The Commercial Loan Officer routinely interacts with potential and existing customers and is responsible for proactively soliciting new consumer, real estate, and commercial loans. This role also involves selling the bank’s products and services to meet established loan quality and production goals. The Loan Officer must exhibit strong customer service, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and communication skills. Additional functions include but are not limited to accepting loan applications, underwriting loans, closing and disbursing funds, collecting past-due payments, solving customer problems, and responding to customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, ranchers, and community organizations to understand their financial needs.
· Proactively solicit new loan opportunities and promote the bank’s products and services.
· Evaluate, structure, and process commercial loan applications, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidelines.
· Negotiate credit terms, including costs, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications, while maintaining interest rate structures consistent with MVB policies and procedures.
· Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make loan recommendations to our loan committee and/or the Board of Directors.
· Communicate regularly with business customers, providing guidance and financial solutions.
· Actively manage loan portfolio and collection management to ensure financial stability.
· Provide assistance and recommend training for new commercial lenders.
· Maintain high visibility and actively participate in events that increase brand visibility and drive growth.
· Maintain industry and market awareness, understanding local economic trends to maximize lending results.
· Develop relationships with potential business customers through prospect calling and referral source development with CPAs, attorneys, and insurance agents.
· Build community relationships through active participation in service activities and business organizations, projecting a positive image of MVB in the local market.
· Perform other duties as assigned and directed by management.
· Be accessible to customers when needed, even outside of standard banking hours or on weekends.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
· Previous experience in commercial lending, banking, or financial services preferred.
· Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
· Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities.
· Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for commercial loans.
· Proficiency in banking software and financial analysis tools.
· Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
· Team player with a coachable attitude and willingness to learn.
· Willingness to engage with the local community and support economic development initiatives.
· A pleasant and professional customer service attitude.
· Residency in the local community preferred.
