Job Overview:

A well-established and respected healthcare institution in Summit, NJ is seeking a Credentialing Specialist to support the medical staff services team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in provider credentialing processes. This position is essential in ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements related to credentialing and re-credentialing of medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with credentialing regulations and quality assurance standards.
  • Process and maintain documentation for initial credentialing and reappointments (125–200 providers quarterly).
  • Collect, verify, and process provider information including education, training, licensure, and experience.
  • Maintain and update accurate provider records in the credentialing database (Echo).
  • Prepare reports and credentialing packets for review by the Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.
  • Track and manage license and certification expirations.
  • Schedule, attend, and take minutes at department-level medical staff meetings as needed.
  • Process and manage medical staff dues.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all provider and credentialing data.
  • Support additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge and experience with the healthcare credentialing process required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in credentialing software (Echo preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.
