Director of Accounting / Controller

PLEASE NOTE: The position is located in Riverside, CA, and is working onsite (not currently offering a remote schedule). The successful candidate must be local to the area. However, professional accommodations can also be arranged.

Compensation : Up to $160K plus bonus. Full medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K, etc.

The Opportunity :

The foundational requirements of this role will be to lead a team of accounting professionals by delegating tasks and responsibilities in AP, AR, GL, financial reporting, revenue analysis, budgeting, GAAP, etc.

In addition, the successful candidate must willing to be very hands-on with a small team of hourly and salaried professionals, participate in FP&A activities and be excited about being an influential member of a rapidly growing company.

The Position

Reporting to and partnering with the CFO, the Director of Accounting/Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the company accounting strategy for the organization. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Accounting/Controller will not just close the books and oversee financial statements, but also mentor staff. The work will be fast paced and challenging but the opportunity to make an impact is significant.

Examples of specific responsibilities include:

Financial and Operational Management

· Direct the accounting and reporting operations of the organization.

· Oversee the accounting team and assist the CFO on all strategic matters relating to accounting, reporting, financial systems, and internal controls.

· Continue to develop policies to control and coordinate accounting, auditing, and reporting.

· Develop and administer procedures and systems - implement these systems to ensure efficiencies and streamline processes.

· Prepare financial statements, maintain all accounting records, and develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information.

· Supervise AP, AR and GL staff.

· Oversee financial statement preparation and review in accordance with GAAP, audit, tax, fixed assets, revenue recognition, accruals, billing, inventory accounting, and ad hoc analysis.

· Establish, analyze and track KPI’s

· Work closely with FP&A on quarterly and annul budgets and forecasts.

· Collaborate with CFO on analysis and decision support regarding capital expenditures, investments, contracts, pricing, and benchmarks.

Team Management

· Mentor and develop the accounting team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic as the department grows.

Requirements

The Director of Accounting/Controller will be a financial leader with broad finance and accounting management experience, ideally with a CPA (although may be substituted for outstanding and relevant experience) and will have experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. S/he will have experience managing the finance function (accounting, control, and reporting) within a multi-location business.

The Director of Accounting/Controller will have the following other experience and attributes:

· A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

· Experience overseeing the complete accounting process through to the preparation of financial statements; have ownership of all operational accounting including AP, AR, billing, reporting, internal controls, and accounting process improvement.

· Annual planning, budgeting and forecasting a plus.

· Integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment with a capable and FUN team.

· Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting financial data.

· An effective communicator at all levels in the organization with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information.

· A collaborative and flexible style with a strong service mentality.

· Should have strong working knowledge of reputable ERP or workflow management systems.

· Must have supervisory/management experience.
