Acculon Energy is at the forefront of testing, engineering, and manufacturing for the next generation of energy storage solutions, specializing in lithium and sodium-ion battery modules and packs. Based in Columbus, OH, our mission is to deliver safe, high-performance, innovative battery solutions that meet the dynamic needs of our global clients. As we expand our operations, we are seeking an Embedded Algorithm/Software Engineer to ensure the excellence and reliability of our advanced battery systems.

We’re seeking someone with experience in architecting, developing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting embedded controls algorithms and software utilizing Simulink and C on microcontrollers. These systems are the heart of safety-critical products like battery management systems and battery charging systems.

Responsibilities

• Defining, developing, testing, and integrating algorithms and software for embedded systems such as battery management systems and related energy management systems
• Testing, debugging, and troubleshooting these systems
• Working alongside other developers, hardware engineers, and mechanical engineers on integration of the systems into products
• Maintaining, supporting, and improving systems after initial delivery

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of algorithm design and analysis and testing processes
• Experience in implementing algorithms for signal processing, control systems, and/or data analysis
• Strong ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions
• Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink
• Ability to optimize algorithms for performance and resource usage
• Proficient knowledge of C
• Proficiency in debugging and testing embedded software
• Proven ability with developing real-time, safety-critical software (compliant with standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 13849)
• Hands-on experience testing and debugging code on a bench setup using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG probes, etc.
• Proficiency managing source code with Git and GitLab
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Experience providing post-production technical support

• Ability to context-switch between multiple different projects

• Ability to balance perfection and practicality
• Passion for safe, robust implementations

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in model based design workflows.
• Knowledge of Python, Rust, shell scripting, CMake, linker syntax
• Experience with hardware or electronic circuit design
• Participation in school or college engineering programs (FIRST, FSAE, EcoCAR, etc.)
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR
• Experience consulting on new project initiation and architecture
