Survios has an opening for a talented Lead VFX Artist working with Unreal Engine 5 to develop world-class games. We are looking for an individual who can provide VFX leadership, task and mentor VFX artists, and be a hands-on individual contributor. The ideal candidate has broad VFX experience, is a creative problem solver, and enjoys a mix of leadership and individual contribution. There is an emphasis in working with all disciplines to build the best technology and games possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire other developers, fostering a collaborative environment while maintaining positive morale.
  • Design, implement, and optimize VFX that align with the artistic vision, art direction, technical constraints, and performance targets of the game and target platforms.
  • Identify and utilize diverse rendering, simulation, and optimization techniques to leverage the available features of each target platform.
  • Develop VFX assets, tools, and pipelines to push the boundaries of visual fidelity, product quality, and development efficiency.
  • Work with Production to create, maintain, and execute a development plan to deliver all VFX elements on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure all VFX integrate seamlessly with gameplay and art.
  • Work closely with all disciplines to ensure constant alignment with the project’s goals.
  • Help build and manage VFX outsource pipelines, as necessary.
  • Lead, mentor, and review the work of other VFX artists.
  • Manage and organize VFX documentation.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as a VFX Artist.
  • 2+ years experience in a leadership role.
  • 2+ shipped titles on console, PC, or VR.
  • 2+ years experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • Proficiency with UE particle systems, niagara, shaders, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in creating high-quality photorealistic and stylized VFX.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of modern 3D game engines, and the technology behind them.
  • Significant experience with industry-standard software such as Maya, 3ds Max, and Houdini.
  • Experience and comfort in understanding, developing, and leveraging proprietary tools and technology.
  • Proficiency in optimizing art for tight memory and performance constraints.
  • Significant experience planning and estimating VFX work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Effective collaborator with contributors, leads, and directors from all disciplines.

Base salary range between $120,000 USD - $150,000 USD ( Base salary range for applicants located within the United States )
